What the hell do you think 'fundamentalism' is??? It all began in the U-nited States of a merka...and was written during the time when the Scopes legal case was under way. About ten books were written called "THE FUNDAMENTALS" where the point was declared that the bible was no longer to be considered a book for all seasons but one that was written and should be taken as read, believed, followed, word for word!
Hence the birth of 'fundamentalism'.
What a disgusting history lies at the base of this stupid, mind numbing, heart destroying movement.
A grey haired old lady, one where butter wouldn't melt in any orifice ( her being so fridged and all!!!) stands in her flowery apron with room for a bible and a gun!
On her back her sweat-shirt declares;

Following our 3-part series on the emerging interfaith movement this is a timely and thought provoking examination of fundamentalism spanning five faiths: Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim and Jewish. Former Dominican friar Mark Dowd, meets radical xenophobic Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka, gun-toting Tennessee housewives and the mothers of suicide bombers in the Middle East. He chronicles their angry rebellion against a modern world and asks what can be done to quell the advance of militant faith?
In Part One he visits the American bible belt to chart the origins and growth, of the 'moral majority movement' now influencing the highest levels of politics. In India he visits the ancient holy city of Ayodhya, site of the disputed Ram-Temple, to explore how simmering tensions between Hindus and Muslims have been exploited for political gain. And he meets militant Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka who've embraced a radical nationalist agenda to fight Tamil Tigers (dominantly Hindu). We cannot stop bombs by meditation, they argue.

However, I want to join you in your diatribe against fundamentalism, regardless of its current guise. They are so fucking sure of themselves that they ought to be ashamed.
Apparently, all religions have a fundamentalist/evangelical group. They all see their way as the only way to heaven. What a bunch of manipulative claptrap. (claptrap, a nice way of saying bullshit.)
If there is a God she/he/it must be having one fantastic laugh. It would be funny if it weren't so tragic.
What seems so ironic to me is the idea that all of those folks would have us believe we are doomed to spend eternity in hell. Don't they realize that they have created their own hell right here in this lifetime.
Oh well, maybe that is the lesson they are to learn this time around.
