Good Luck Mr President!

I arose at 3 am on a dark and hot Australian summers morning.

I wanted to see history being made.

I wanted to see the world smile and to see the joy on the American people's faces first hand.

I wanted to impart my hope for a new dawn.

But mostly I wanted to share in the world's relief that the most powerful country in the world is once again in the hands of a young, vibrant and intelligent person.

We in our lounge room, filled our glasses with alcohol in the middle of the day to toast the luck of the man who has one hell of a job ahead. Thank heavens it is he who is at the helm.

Congratulations America.
Congratulations Mr President.
We need you and we are patient with how long it will take for you to set your legacy down.

Blame

When the poor are poor and desperate you blame them

Democracy and other thoughts

Will be watching with hope, love and joy next ( our Australian) Wednesday at the inauguration of the new man in the White House USA!
YAYYYY!

So another Christmas has come and gone.
Another year has started and all the little chicks have gone back to their lives and their work.
We have learnt a lot this time.

It is time to let go...really really let go.

This generation that my children belong to is beyond my ken.
I just don't get it.

NO matter who brought them up, where they came from, the type of parenting, the type of parents, the type of family ( blended, mended, upended or suspended) or even like our own in tact and loving, they are amazingly different.

It is good because only they can move forward. I am too old now to do so.

I shall love them and leave them.

They have had enough of me and I am dumbfounded by them.

I doubt that they will miss me as I miss my parents. It was the anniversary on the 11 Jan of the loss of my dad.
Last December on his birthday was the anniversary of the loss of my mum.

I shall not forget.
I miss them.

And now the time has come to farewell my imagining, my dreams, my hopes and my expectations of and for my own children.

For Laughs

Two aliens landed in the Arizona desert near a gas station that was closedfor the night. They approached one of the gas pumps and the younger alien addressed it saying, 'Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Take us to your leader.'

The gas pump, of course, didn't respond.

The younger alien became angry at the lack of response.

The older alien said, 'I'd calm down if I were you.'

The younger alien ignored the warning and repeated his greeting. Again, there was no response.

Annoyed by what he perceived to be the pump's haughty attitude, he drew his ray gun and said impatiently, 'Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Do not ignore us this way! Take us to your leader or I will fire!'

The older alien again warned his comrade saying, 'You probably don't want to do that! I really don't think you should make him mad.'

'Rubbish,' replied the cocky, young alien. He aimed his weapon at the pump and opened fire. There was a huge explosion. A massive fireball roared towards them and blew the younger alien off his feet and deposited him a burnt, smoking mess about 200 yards away in a cactus patch.

Half an hour passed. When he finally regained consciousness, he refocused his three eyes, straightened his bent antenna, and looked dazedly at the older, wiser alien who was standing over him shaking his big, green head.

'What a ferocious creature!' exclaimed the young, fried alien. 'He damn near killed me! How did you know he was so dangerous?'

The older alien leaned over, placed a friendly feeler on his crispy friend and replied, 'If there's one thing I've learned during my intergalactic travels, you don't want to mess with a guy who can loop his penis over his shoulder twice and then stick it in his ear.'

Should Know Better

An account of the experiences of one Primo Levi (1919 -1987) during his incarceration during the Holocaust was played out in a telly-play last night. I had seen it before but caught the last half again.

I sat watching with horror and disgust but gradually this was overcome by an intense anger that all this that had happened to this man, a Jew, and passed on down the generations to be remembered ( "Lest We Forget") is now being pissed up against the wall dividing Gaza from Israel.

I watched and listened and heard every word;
of capture, fear, hatred, sickness, despair and horror.

So
WHAT ARE THEY DOING?

They say the guard is as much a prisoner as the captured, incarcerated.
Can it be?
So
THEY WHO SHOULD KNOW BETTER
are now doing the same to another peoples.

After years, nay millennia, of stories of pain, prison, racism, hatred
Should these same people now inflict the same on another group?
YES
THEY WHO SHOULD KNOW BETTER
to be careful of what they do, they set up, they create in the their name of 'freedom' and 'justice' another generation whose memories of history will echo down the decades.

They -
Make me despair
make me hate
make me ashamed of their (in)humanity

The very same that was inflicted upon them for two thousand years, let alone in Germany last century.
They have suffered SO much of that
.. and now -
they bomb, kill, maim, make fearful, despairing, shaming us all...all of our humanity....
ALL OVER AGAIN.

They
WHO SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN ANYONE.

The things they say about the
cruelty, inhumanity, lack of compassion, duty of care, fear, hatred and pain of their lives down the ages-
They now do - are doing - the very same.


They say
Those parents who commit corporeal punishment upon their children and say ( whilst hitting them):
"I'll teach you!!!!!"
DO teach how to carry the very same acts out upon their children and more.

And so -
Through stories and history and keeping alive the holocaust maybe, just maybe,
They have indeed TAUGHT the following generations how to behave.
The did TEACH and so they become like the Nazi's and the Palestinians will become the new Jew.
