We want to say; 'COME HOME'.
But;
We are good and silent parents. Honourable and kind. Thoughtful and patient. Allowing the child to rule their own life.
We are scared, but in an accepting way.
He is our life.
Our child we bore and held and put to the breast.
But halfway up from here is a country we cannot imagine. The idea that bombing others is 'reasonable' or to pull a gun out or to use violence, or the threat to hurt is foreign to us.
So there our baby is,
Our 33 year old baby.
He says;
Hold fast and remember it will be ok. This happens every year at this time. Just a bit more full on now.
So....
We will hold our counsel, our hearts in our mouths and our hopes high.
COME HOME!

It must have been more than worrisome for you to see what the dipsticks of North Korea are doing.
It is also quite natural and commendable to be so concerned about the health and welfare of your 33 year old "baby".
It was his choice to go there and serve. It is our choice to be more than a bit worried/concerned about him.
I hope all turns out well for him. After all, he did mention that this is an annual occurrence. Apparently he has gotten used to it. Perhaps he is nowhere near the target area. I hope not.
Let him know there are others who also share your concerns.
I hope you know Jack that our son is not 'serving' in any sense except he has a job. He is a 'professor' of English and teaches at a university in Seoul.
Yes it is his 'choice' but that is no 'excuse'...We have had this conversation before, methinks...
what is 'choice' etc.
He is a mere 1 hours drive from the border..that is how close Seoul is to the North.
He will be home for Xmas so we will be relieved then.
